If you’ve ever observed both wasps or bees in your backyard, it’s strongly advised to steer clear of the area. Remember that both wasps and bees are territorial creatures, capable of inflicting painful stings, and in certain instances, triggering severe allergic reactions. While we do provide treatments involving stinging insect removal sprays, especially for species like honey bees, we also offer alternative relocation solutions. Unlike bees, wasps possess the ability to deliver multiple stings during a single attack. This potentially causes more significant discomfort for your loved ones. That’s why we extend our services to address a variety of stinging insects, including wasps, yellow jackets, hornets, etc. Allow our team of professionals from Life After Bugs to safeguard your family, granting you the freedom to enjoy your outdoor space without the fear of painful stings. Give us a call at Life After Bugs to get started.
If you’re wondering how you can potentially deter bees and wasps in your homes, here are some natural techniques that you can employ so these pests don’t invade your yards:
Ensure that garbage cans are regularly cleaned, tightly sealed, and emptied to discourage wasps, especially those attracted to sugary beverages.
Always rinse out your containers and cans before disposing them.
Plant species like spearmint, thyme, basil, eucalyptus, lemongrass, wormwood, citronella, marigolds, geraniums, or pennyroyals in your vicinity to deter wasps.
Be cautious about planting species like sweet fennel and yarrow, as they can draw stinging insects – yes, like wasps – to your yard.
Certain natural oils, such as clove, geranium, peppermint, and lemongrass, are known to repel wasps. Create a solution by mixing 10 drops of oil with 1 tablespoon of dish soap and 1 cup of water, then pour it into a spray bottle.
You can then apply this mixture to areas where you suspect that wasps might build nests.
You can mix equal parts water and vinegar in a spray bottle, and spray it along the perimeter of your home to deter wasps and other stinging insects.
Utilize either homemade traps using sugar water and a plastic bottle or store-bought wasp traps to help maintain a wasp-free yard.
While these methods can be effective in deterring wasps and bees, please note that they are primarily for prevention and not intended for treating existing nests.
